The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - daluved1 - 02-06-2010 02:58 PM

Can you believe it? It's been 10 years since the original Sims 1 game hit the shelves on February 4th, 2000. For those of us old enough to have played Sims 1 when it first came out (or simply fortunate to have played it at all), this day brings back nostalgic memories of the cute, jerky movements of Bob and Betty Newbie. Oh yes, a time when Sims had no finger animations, the same meal was eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and dancing consisted of shooting their arms in the air and rocking from side to side. Good times, right?

[attachment=782]
What's even more astonishing is that during the game's development, a lot of people thought the Sims would be a failure. However, it proved the neigh-sayers wrong by becoming one of the top selling PC games in history. In fact, the three major installments of The Sims, and their expansions and add-ons, have brought in more than $2.5 billion in revenues, with more than 125 million copies sold to date. The series sold it's 100,000,000 copy less than two years ago.

The Sims have come along way from their original 2D sprite world, to the beautiful 3D masterpieces of Sims 2 and Sims 3. With no major competition to stop it, the Sims franchise is expected to thrive well into the future. And I for one can't wait to see what they come up with next.

And now, for your viewing enjoyment, The Sims 3 Tenth Anniversary Special.

Amen! Book was good though.

What I love about TS1 was, when I played it back in 2000, it barely ran on my computer. Now I can manage TS3 really well. So, I installed my TS1 Full Collection about two weeks ago just to check it out and the load times were lightspeed. Tongue I remember having so much custom content after playing for a couple of years that it took over an hour to get past the start up. Now, with all that custom content, it took five minutes. Big diff. xP

Watching this video and seeing how much this game has progressed made me remember the good old days when I thought Sims 1 was the greatest. Right before Sims 3 came out I installed Sims 1 for kicks and OMG I do not miss it LOL. The only thing I do miss is the build mode/buy mode music. I found the files in the Sims 1 game and installed them into Sims 2. Big Grin On another note being 10 years old makes me realize how old I am getting Tongue

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - Flabaliki - 02-18-2010 06:55 PM

Not me, I practically grew up with The Sims, I started with Sims 1 because my older sister got it for christmas, at the time I was only 5, turned 6 that year, 10 years on, I'm 15 turning 16 in a few months Tongue

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - Otaku Hanzo - 02-19-2010 12:23 PM

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - MichealKenny - 02-19-2010 01:37 PM

the first sims game i ever bought was The Sims: Life Stories, i loved it so i spent €250 - €300 on all the sims 2 games, i got it in 2007 and it wouldnt work on my current pc, so in may 2008, i paid like €1,250 on a dell vostro 400, and thats the computer i use to this day, plays the sims like a dream.

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - PhenomenalOne - 02-20-2010 05:56 AM

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - Flabaliki - 02-20-2010 09:59 AM

RE: The Sims: Aluminum Anniversary - Otaku Hanzo - 02-20-2010 10:11 AM
