The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Flabaliki - 01-26-2010 01:00 AM

Really, what are you doing EA? Well anyways, Bart Smit retail giant has confirmed that The Sims 3 Hobbies & Professions is on their list, set for a release of June 4, exactly one year after the release of The Sims 3.

Now, this is where my rant starts... *gearing up*

Quote:Omg, this is hilarious. EA absolutely fails beyond belief at making names for expansions and stuff packs! Like, High End Loft Stuff…. what in the world is that. Now we may possibly have Hobbies & Professions, you gotta be kidding.

Now, if this -is- the next expansion I’ll only buy it if it has the following:
Weather… where the heck did that disappear off to?
  1. Weather… where the heck did that disappear off to?
  2. Actual community locations, bowling, restaurants, discos, SHOPS, not rabbitholes, there is NOTHING to do in The Sims 3.
  3. Some sort of Superstar aspect <- Best expansion ever! Along with Makin' Magic Smile

I can't think of any other conditions at the moment, but if this expansion misses those core aspects then EA are real jackasses.

Well that was a fun rant eh?

PS. Oh and one more thing!! I’m LOVING the release date of Sims 3 games, The Sims 3 was released on June 4… my birthday and if this trend follows and the expansion is released on June 4, awesome, my birthday again! Smile

Before we get -too- angry (it's a bit late for me), this is all subject to change as Bart Smit aren't EA, they don't call the shots on The Sims, the name could change, the content could change, but as for now, this is what is to be expected.

Tell me what your thoughts (hopefully pissy) are on this.

Hehe.... I'm actually looking forward to more hobby/job type stuff. Tongue

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - taid - 01-26-2010 03:52 AM

I agree with Bart Smit there is nothing to do in Sims 3 only read books, cook and gardening (I'm not a gardener, I can't even grow weeds in my garden) So. to quote Mr Smit "Actual community locations, bowling, restaurants, discos, SHOPS, not rabbitholes", would be GOOD.

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - CreativeMommy1985 - 01-26-2010 05:32 AM

I would really like it if they made different places to go to instead of the rabbit holes. It's kinda boring right now cause my sims are maxed out on all of their skills. I have been working on a new house for the past couple days just to keep me busy until I decide to make a new sim (or sims.)

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Otaku Hanzo - 01-26-2010 09:06 AM

*sigh* There is alot I'd like to see, but I agree that something along the lines of Making Magic would be nice. Then I could do something with my sorceress sim who's just sitting in my bin waiting. Tongue Also, I would loooove to see a Date Meter like they introduced with Night Life for Sims 2. It would make dating a cool thing. And, finally, I want Greece! Give us a greek-ish location dammit! It would fit perfectly with magic and romance. Oh, more places to visit would be great, too. Would give more options for dating. Wink

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Flabaliki - 01-26-2010 09:33 AM

Taid, that rant was by me not Bart Smit, I just put it in the quote because it looked neater Tongue

Also, I really do hope they do actually make some things to do.

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - CreativeMommy1985 - 01-26-2010 10:06 AM

I agree with Otaku. They defiantly should make more places to visit. Greece or Ireland would be really neat. Big Grin

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Nors - 01-27-2010 06:39 AM

Yup, the names is so bad, I mean they try to make it fancy, but it just sounds like crap!

But the EP sounds pretty okay. I don't want to judge it yet, I want to know more about it.

Well I hope they make some kind of EP, like the "Seansons" EP to TS2, because that was really neat. Wink

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Jacqpinks - 01-29-2010 05:40 PM

I enjoyed your rant as well lol

I think that title could include a super star type game it is classed as a profession (isn't it?)

I am really missing the weather also, I think it should have been included in the Base game it was meant to be in the base game for the Sims 2 but something went wrong there so it wasn't included so really just think it would have been nice for it too be included in the Sims 3 base lol

I still always can't wait for new eps and sps, or even new store stuff (I know I am a sucker) lol

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Otaku Hanzo - 01-30-2010 03:14 AM

Yay! Someone agreed with me! j/k! xD

Another thing that would be neat is if they incorporated a way for professions to generate opportunities abroad. Like the Secret Agent has to go to France and steal documents from somebody. Or the Star News Anchor has to go gather news abroad. Or even allow places abroad where the Rock Star can hold concerts and autograph sessions, thus increasing their fame.

Just some thoughts.

I really like those ideas! Awesome!

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Jonathan - 01-31-2010 05:55 AM

world adventures = bon voyage
high end lot stuff = glamor stuff
Hobbies & Professions = free time

is it me or is EA just reselling us the sims 2

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Otaku Hanzo - 01-31-2010 08:10 AM

@ Jonathan: Well, one should expect similarities. But, Sims 3 offers alot more than Sims 2 could, even with a huge update. As long as they keep adding new and unique stuff, I'll keep buying. I like Sims 3 over Sims 2 due to alot of the new features. Graphics are not really a concern of mine, but gameplay is. Heck, one of my fave rpgs was back when CGA was the big deal. But, I digress. Yes, there is alot of similarities, but there are some huge differences though. Enough that it's fresh for me. Smile

@ CreativeMommy: I've got more. Tongue

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Jacqpinks - 01-31-2010 11:19 AM

Yeah bring it on, as long as they give back a few things like the drums, piano and spa lol

there are a few other items missing

Thing is, they may be similar, but they're not the same. From what I've heard, WA is a hundred times better than BV. Glamour life had more what a Superstar would have, not a modern tech geek. Hobbies and Professions, who knows.

Also, if you ever played both TS1 and TS2, they did the same thing. Unleashed = Pets. Makin Magic (Barely, but eh.) = Apartment life. House Party/Hot Date = Nightlife.

Never was a truer statement made. Well, okay, maybe not never, but you get my point. I hope. >.>

But seriously, I was hooked from the start with Sims 3 and when I installed WA it was like Maxis bought the contract to my soul. Tongue

Another thing I want is the ability to make my own opportunities.

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - taid - 02-02-2010 02:27 AM

Some really great ideas in this thread so why don't we take these ideas, set up a poll with say 10 ideas and then take the top most popular three and then set up a website containing a petition to EA, get as many people to sign in and then send it to EA??
Surley they have to listen to the people!!

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - CreativeMommy1985 - 02-02-2010 03:30 AM

That sounds like a really goo idea Taid! We should defiantly do that! Big Grin

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - maddypants - 02-02-2010 06:48 PM

i totaly agree with you rant.
i had to sell all my sims 2 to get sims 3 and now sims 3 realy sucks.
im so peeved

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Boonapolist - 02-06-2010 07:24 PM

Amen to the rant!!!! I just loved the weather in Sims 2 so much. I definitely want that back. I mean come on, you can't always have perfect weather. I like my winters to have snow and my other seasons to have their due. And where' the pool table and other game room items??? And a hot tub. And pianos that work. Even the clothes looked better in Sims 2.

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Lexie758 - 02-10-2010 12:29 AM

Yup totally agree, bring back the weather!
I hope that when the new expansion pack comes out it's not as buggy as WA has proved to be! I was thinking I might hold off buying it, see what people are saying about it, wait for the patch and then get it, but I probably haven't got that much self control!

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - CreativeMommy1985 - 02-10-2010 03:42 AM

Yea, I hope they bring back the weather too and the pets! I liked being able to get a pet for my simmies! Big Grin

These are my exact same thoughts. What makes WA so much fun is that your sim is going places and doing things instead of waiting for the bar to fill. I was actually excited while my sim was advancing in law enforcement and had to interview other sims and make reports. But I was sadly disappointed when he couldn't patrol the streets and find random criminals. WA introduced a new element to the game that makes it exciting but EA needs to carry this further, make careers more involved.

I agree completely about have control over opportunities! Wouldn't it be great if you could take on assignments as a journalist or a spy or as a politician and go on a diplomatic mission?

If this new EP is about hobbies and professions there had better be more things that we can do with our sims and less waiting for the end of the work day.

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - kollkolen - 03-18-2010 06:35 PM

This would be great, but I don't see anything that really proves anything about this. Definitely just a rumor now so I won't get too excited yet!

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Idaman - 03-18-2010 06:43 PM

This isn't a rumor. It's real. Didn't you read the first post?

RE: The Sims 3: Hobbies & Professions - Otaku Hanzo - 03-19-2010 01:18 AM

It's been renamed to Ambitions is all. Tongue
